Presence transform fear

If I could highlight some words of wisdom for you this month,  that is it.

When you are feeling anxious/stressed/panicky, it is very rarely because your immediate surroundings are presenting a danger.

You are, in fact, future fearing or past picking.

You are imagining how a situation might play out.

You are imagining what other people might say or do to you.

You are imagining what “fate” may serve at your door.

Or you are replaying past conversations, questioning past actions you took, or trying to understand the behaviour of other people towards you.

And none of that is REAL.

Simply by using your mind to past pick or future fear, you put your body into a state of fear/panic/anxiety/whatever you want to call it.

And yet, it’s not even happening to you. You are creating a physical response and dropping your energy into voids it doesn’t need to go for something that is simply imagined.

On the plus side, you get to choose not to do that.

Every time you catch yourself future fearing or past picking, bring yourself back to this present moment.

In this moment, you are reading my words.

In this moment, you are safe. In this moment, nothing you are imagining is happening to you (and, by the way, most of what you imagine will NEVER happen and you can be extra sure it won’t by not imagining it at all).

Come back to your body, call your energy back into this present moment.

Feel your feet on the floor, or your bum on the seat.

Wriggle your fingers and toes.

Roll your shoulders.

Breathe in (all the way, not that half assed breath in you normally do), hold it for a couple of seconds and then breathe all the way out (all the way).

Look around the room, notice what you can see.

Tune into the sounds you can hear.

What can you smell?

You’re all good. You’re here, right now. It’s going to be ok.

You’ve got this and I’ve got you
